I’m like the many that have a long commute to and from work everyday. That’s 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back. It’s not my ideal choice to spend 1 hour and 30 minutes 5 days a week on the road. That’s 7.5 hours a week of my time spent only on driving. It’s not a bad drive because there’s hardly any cars on the road and no traffic lights, so it’s good time to clear my head. However, I’ve gotten bored on my playlists and the radio. My new obsession is PODCASTS! #PodcastProductivity
I can’t believe that it has taken me this long to get onto the podcast bandwagon. (I think I need to listen to Serial too, I’m behind.) Here are my current Top 5 Favourite Podcasts for the Teacherpreneurs out there!
I had been a fan of Jess Lively for a while and have heard of her podcasts, but never got around to listening to them. I wish I had done so earlier. Her podcasts are very inspiring and uplifting, geared towards my fellow female entrepreneurs. She talks about EVERYTHING, literally. From career, being creative, lifestyle, relationships and more. My favourite so far is the episode featuring Elizabeth Gilbert.
About the Podcast: The Lively Show is designed to uplift, inspire, and help you add a little extra intention to your everyday.
#2 – Being Boss
This podcast has been my absolute favourite find this week! They ladies behind it, Emily and Kathleen, are fun and spunky! Their energy definitely gets me pumped to want to do more and more. They are VERY informative as well. I knew NOTHING about mailing lists and thought about how it might be something I want to add to my site. Now I’m super inspired to do so! The Email Marketing episode was jam packed with information.
About the Podcast: “Being Boss in work and life, is being in it. It’s being who we are, doing the work, breaking some rules, and even though we each have to do it on our own – knowing we’re in it together.” – Emily Thompson & Kathleen Shannon
#3 – Emerging Women
I love being a part of a community of women who uplift and empower each other. This podcast has TONS of inspirational episodes with a wide variety of topics. I found it when I was searching for Podcasts with Elizabeth Gilbert, so obviously I enjoyed the episode featuring her. It’s obviously so great that it’s a 2 part series. The one thing that inspired me most about this series was her tip on being you and don’t be afraid if someone else is doing what you want to do. (Then there wouldn’t be any more love songs out there!) I know I have a voice and I’m going to put my own spin on what I want to do.
About the Podcast: Emerging Women exists to support and inspire women to express themselves authentically through the work that they do.
#4 – Sheila Jane Teaching
Anyone else in the Teacherpreneur World a huge fan of Sheila? She definitely has TONS going on, I’m super hooked on her iTeach TV Network. However, I can’t always catch Periscopes live or replay. I always wish I could check in with her Blab sessions, but I’m on Australia time and am usually in the classroom or sleeping when they’re live. I LOVE how she takes them and posts Podcasts. (I hope she never stops that!) The episode that got my attention the most (so far) is featuring Ashley Schroeder. I related to her journey SO much and am so happy she shared her story with us.
About the Podcast: Interviews with top educators, useful tips, and support. Plus inspiration to help you Teach Happy * Live Happy * Be Happy Become the teacher you strive to be!
#5 – Magic Lessons
I JUST started these, but I’m super anxious. These podcasts are from Elizabeth Gilbert that she calls “Magic Lessons.” Gilbert wrote Eat, Pray, Love and Big Magic. I want to get Big Magic in my hands, but I don’t have a local bookstore that’s reliable. (Not sure if they would have this book.) So, as I wait to order it online I decided to download ALL the episodes. Perfect for my drive this upcoming week!
What about some Podcasts for the Teachers in the Classroom?
Here are some of the podcasts I’ve listened to with teaching ideas and inspiration:
